Triple Action Purex Plus Oxi

Being a loyal consumer and fan of Purex Laundry products, I was more than happy to provide a review.
Purex Plus Oxi offers a powerful stain fighting agent that is claimed to work against over 100 different stains! Of course I was intrigued by this new version of Purex. With 2 children and a husband whom attracts various stains, how could I pass up the chance?

The first thing that I do when purchasing a laundry products is remove the cap, and inhale the aroma inside. Exactly what I did when the bottle of Purex Plus Oxi arrived. Some people may be allergic or sensitive to scents. However, my family prefers semi strongly scented laundry products. When opening the cap and inhaling the contents, I noticed that it has a pleasant scent and not too overpowering.

As a portion of my review, I'd like to share one specific laundry task. My son is in the JROTC program in school. They provide them with Tshirts that are to be worn during inspections. What my son didn't tell me is that he ate dinner at home with this Tshirt. Can you imagine what happened next? He offered to do a load of laundry. I wasn't turning that down, I'll take all the help I can get around the house!

45 minutes goes by and he comes in to confess what he had done. My son tells me that he washed the shirt and the stains didn't come out. Ack! I asked him why he didn't tell me about spilling sauce on his shirt and he shrugged his shoulders. Explained to me that he  wanted to try to fix the problem himself. While I applaud his efforts, I wish he had told me before washing.

What am I to do? Do I attempt to remove the stains myself, or am I going to be forced to purchase a new shirt from the program? Yes, you know the answer to that! I did what anyone would do, I went to the laundry room and got to work. I pulled out the bottle of Purex Plus Oxi that I had received in the mail that day.

The back of the bottle has clear instructions:

"For Tough Stains: Pretreat by applying some detergent directly to stains and rub into fabric. Allow formula to sit n stains for 5 minutes."

I pretreated his already washed shirt with the detergent and waited not 5, but 10 minutes. I could tell that some of the stain had lifted, but still dark enough to fail inspection. Grabbing a gentle toothbrush, I vigorously began scrubbing the stains with detergent. Unfortunately, the stains seemed to have set in. Not giving up, I continued to scrub the stains with the toothbrush. Then, tossed the shirt back into the washing machine with 1/2 a cap of detergent.

Hearing the washing machine go off, I quickly went back there to check my work. The stains were much lighter in appearance than prior to using the detergent and scrubbing! Hanging the shirt on a hanger to dry, I was still concerned about whether they were light enough or not.

When I inspected the shirt the next morning, I noticed how light the stains were at that time. While the detergent didn't completely remove the stain, it did a remarkable job with making the stain light enough to give his JROTC inspection a shot. I'm pleased to announce that they did not notice the faint stain on his Tshirt, and passed inspection.

Since using my bottle of laundry detergent, I have since purchased another bottle of Purex Plus Oxi. Thanks to Purex, not only did the product save my sons Tshirt, it also saved me from having to spend precious resources on a new shirt!
